What Is Replit?

Replit is an AI platform for turning ideas into apps, websites and tools. Users describe what they want in chat, and Replit Agent writes the code, sets up services and tests the result. They can then refine the project and publish it from the same place. Replit also offers built-in databases, authentication, hosting and connections to other services.

Who Should Use Replit?

Replit is useful for founders, product managers, designers, engineers and operations teams who want to build apps without much setup. Beginners can start with plain-language chat. Buyers should check the credit rules and collaborator limits, because heavier Agent work and larger teams need the Pro plan.

How Does Replit Work?

  1. Describe what you want to build in the Project Editor chat. You can also attach files or use voice input.
  2. Choose a project type, such as a web app, mobile app or slides, or let Agent work it out from your description.
  3. Let Agent write the code, set up the project and test the result.
  4. Chat to adjust the project, and roll back to a checkpoint if you need to.
  5. Publish the project.

Pro costs $90 per month billed annually, shown next to a crossed-out $100. Enterprise has custom pricing. The Yearly tab says up to 10% off. A footnote says prices are subject to tax depending on location. The screenshot shows no Free plan.

Is Replit Free?

The screenshot shows no Free plan, but the page has a Start free link and mentions Free Mode. Replit's help page lists a free Starter plan with no time limit, a daily Agent allowance and one published app. The pricing page does not describe Starter, so check it before relying on this.

Replit Key Features

Replit Agent

Replit Agent builds from plain-language chat. It writes code, sets up the project and tests the result, then users can refine it in chat and publish. Plan mode lets users approve an ordered task list before Agent changes any code. Agent saves checkpoints so users can roll back.

Free Mode

Free Mode gives everyday Agent work at no extra cost within a plan's allowance. In the screenshot, Core includes up to 30 hours of chat and up to 60 projects on Free Mode, and Pro adds even more Free Mode usage. Replit asks before any paid action starts.

Built-In Services and Integrations

Replit lists built-in databases, authentication, hosting and monitoring that need no setup. It also connects to 100+ services, including OpenAI, Stripe and Google Workspace. Pro adds database rollback up to 28 days in the screenshot, which helps users undo data mistakes.

Many Kinds of Projects

Agent can build web apps, mobile apps, data dashboards, slide decks and videos in one project, and they can share the same backend and data. Replit's help page also lists files such as CSVs, PDFs and PowerPoint files. A Design Canvas lets users explore visual mockups before coding.

Team and Security Options

Pro supports up to 15 collaborators in the screenshot and adds premium support. Enterprise lists SSO, SCIM, audit logs, advanced privacy controls, centralized security management, single-tenant and private networking options, and dedicated premium support. These help teams that need shared access and admin control.

Should You Use Replit?

Replit fits people who want to describe an app in plain language and publish it in one place. Core is aimed at personal projects and simple apps, while Pro is aimed at commercial builds with more credits and collaborators. Check how credits and paid modes are billed, because Agent work is billed by effort. This overview is based on publicly available product information and is not a hands-on review.

Frequently asked questions

Is Replit free?

What are the limits of the Replit Free plan?

Replit's help page says Starter has a daily Agent allowance, limited monthly cloud credits, basic Agent access and one published app. The screenshot shows no Starter plan, and the page gives no exact numbers, so check the live pricing page for current limits.

How many collaborators can I add on Replit?

In the screenshot, Pro includes up to 15 collaborators. Replit's help page lists up to 5 collaborators on Core and up to 15 builders on Pro. The Core card in the screenshot does not show a collaborator limit.

How do credits work on Replit?

Can Replit Agent make mistakes?

Yes. Replit's footnote says Replit Agent is powered by large language models. It says the behavior is probabilistic, so it may sometimes make mistakes. Users should review what Agent builds and use checkpoints to roll back when needed.
